1. Where do I look to see if I have a warrant?

Active warrants can be found on the ND Public Access Site.  If your warrant is for Fail to Pay fines, you can pay online using this link.

If your West Fargo warrant if for Failure to Appear, please contact the West Fargo Municipal Court at 701-515-5025 to get a court date scheduled and clear your warrant.

4. My pet is missing, who do I call?

If your pet is missing, please contact the local animal pounds.

5. Can we bring our group to the Police Department for a tour?

Tours may be available, depending on staff availability and group size.

6. How do I know if I'm being scammed?

You know what they say: "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is."  Whether the scam involves phony winnings from a fake sweepstake or a threat to have you arrested for supposed non-payment of taxes, information is the key to foiling scam artists.

7. How do I apply for a restraining order?

The West Fargo Police Department does not issue protection or restraining orders. 

If you have been a victim of domestic violence you can obtain them by filing an Application and Affidavit in Support of a Protection Order. Please contact one of the following: the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center, Cass County State Attorney's Office or a private attorney for further information.

8. How do I evict a tenant from a property I own?

According to state law, landlords can evict tenants for non-payment of rent, or in cases where the tenant refuses to leave after “Notice to Vacate” has been properly served and the tenant’s last day has passed.  A tenant can also be evicted if the tenant or any person on the premises with the tenant’s consent acts in a manner that unreasonably disturbs other tenants peaceful enjoyment of the premises.  N.D. Century Code § 47-32-01.

9. What can I do if someone is harassing me?

If someone is harassing you, the first thing you should do is contact our Police Dispatch Center (RRRDC) at 701-451-7660 to report the harassment to an officer or come in person to 800 Fourth Avenue E. Then an officer will discuss the situation with you and inform you of your options. If possible, try to record the harassment or bring in the email / written / voicemail / texted evidence. Always document the time and place the harassment is taking place. 

If someone is harassing you and creating a dangerous or emergency situation, please call 911.

10. Do you have a tip line?

Yes, the number is (701) 515-5333. This number should not be used to report a crime in progress. If there is a crime in progress, call 911 immediately.

11. Can the police department be called for an unruly child?

Yes, this is a very common issue and you are not alone. If you believe your child is being unruly, you do have an option of contacting the Red River Regional Dispatch Center at 701-451-7660 to have a West Fargo Police Officer come to your house and survey the situation. 

If you and the officer believe that the child is unruly, the officer may transport your child to YouthWorks Attendant Care where they will be held until the situation is resolved. 

12. What should I do if I believe someone may be using/selling drugs?

If you believe someone is involved in drug use or trafficking, contact our Police Dispatch at 701-451-7660 or  WFPD at 701-515-5500 to speak to a West Fargo Police Officer.

13. Why did it take so long for the police to arrive when I called them?

All requests for police services are assigned a priority level based on the seriousness of the incident and the potential for injury to a victim or damage to property. 

Calls of a less urgent nature may be delayed so that we can respond immediately to emergencies.

14. I am interested in a ride along with an officer, who do I call?

At this time, ride-alongs with officers are restricted to those participating in the Citizen's Police Academy and those that are attending the Law Enforcement Training academy.

15. What should I do if I see a wild animal in the City of West Fargo?

During the winter months, it is normal to see wildlife like coyotes, rabbits and deer, traveling along the Sheyenne River south of Interstate 94. If you spot one of these animals, remember to:

• Avoid them.
• Do not attempt to trap or harm them.
• Call the North Dakota Game and Fish Department at 701-328-6613 if they appear to have health issues.
• Call 9-1-1 if the animal is posing an immediate public safety threat.
• Follow the City of West Fargo leash laws to protect your pets and don’t leave small dogs and cats unattended outside.
• Do not feed prey animals, like wild turkeys, that are a food source for the predators.
• Don’t leave dog food or other sources of food outside.
• If it is safe to do so, yell and wave your arms at the animals so they remain wary of humans

16. Are there volunteer opportunities with the West Fargo Police Department?

17. Who should I contact to start a neighborhood watch program?

The West Fargo Police Department has launched a neighborhood watch program to encourage you and your neighbors to become involved in crime prevention and detection. Having the addition of the public’s eye on crime will assist local law enforcement in addressing issues within your community. A neighborhood watch program also allows you to get to know your neighbors and the community better.
