Recreational Fires

• Recreational fires cannot be located within 25 feet of a structure (including decks and fences) or other combustible materials.
  • All fires shall be within an approved container.
• Any fire that is considered unsafe by fire officials shall not be allowed.
  
  
• All recreational fires must be constantly attended until the fire is extinguished.
  
  
• A fire extinguisher or a garden hose must be available for immediate use.
  
  
• The only components allowed to be burned are small branches and split logs.  The burning of grass, leaves or garbage material is not allowed.
  
  
• Any complaints in regards to smoke or odor from a neighbor shall result in extinguishment of the fire.
  
  
• Be a good neighbor and don’t use a recreational fire on breezy days that will spread the smoke through the neighborhood.
  
  
• All open burning is banned when the fire index is at the extreme level and caution should be used when the fire index is at very high level.
  
  
•  Large fires such as neighborhood bonfires are not allowed unless approved by the fire department.

Prohibited Open Burning

Open burning shall be prohibited within the city limits unless you have received a burn permit.

The fire code official is authorized to order the extinguishment of the open burning operation.
